It isn’t just a good way to have fun and exercise. It can also be used to generate electricity. At the Bar Surya, a dance club and bar in London, a special dance floor generates enough electricity to power the air conditioning.
The dance floor is composed of crystals which are pressed together as people walk and dance on it. This generates a current which is feed into rechargeable batteries, which are then used by the night club for power.
It is unclear how much electricity is actually generated through this process. But it is clear that as long as innovation continues, we may see a greener future. One of Thomas Edison’s quotes were: “I’d put my money on the sun and solar energy. What a source of power! As a green inventor, Thomas Edison probably never thought about dancing as a source of power.
